A North West police officer on Tuesday pleaded guilty to killing his estranged wife and her boyfriend.

Warrant Officer Annius Mmutle, 49, appeared in the Zeerust Magistrates Court on two counts of murder.

Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) spokesperson Phaladi Shuping said Mmutle, who was stationed at Nietverdint, shot his estranged wife, Motshegwa Mmutle , 44, and her 33-year-old boyfriend, Katlego Selokwane on 14 March.

“Mmutle has been in custody since his arrest as the investigating officer opposed his release on bail,” said Shuping.

The matter was postponed to 2 July for the pre-sentencing report.
