Intruders beware: Trigger-happy security system fires paintball ammo and tear gas

Published on

Intruders will be in for a colourful surprise when a Slovenia-based startup’s ambitious high-tech security system hits the market.

OZ-IT has introduced a cutting-edge home surveillance system that uses artificial intelligence technology to shoot paintball pellets at potential intruders.

The autonomous property monitoring device, known as PaintCam Eve, will utilise facial recognition and motion detection to protect against potential intruders.

OZ-IT claims that the device can also shoot tear gas rounds with incredible accuracy.

The PaintCam Eve is packed with night-vision capabilities, a warning laser, and a built-in speaker that gives verbal commands for trespassers to scram. If the unwanted guest sticks around, the owner has the option to shoot a paintball pellet at them.

“PaintCam’s advanced technology detects both humans and pets, utilizing state-of-the-art facial recognition to distinguish between welcome guests and potential intruders. In the event of an unwanted intrusion, our system springs into action, deploying paintball markers or tear gas to deter the intruder and mark them for easy identification by authorities,” said OZ-IT.

If an unknown face appears next to someone known – perhaps your daughter’s new boyfriend – PaintCam defers to your instructions. It’s security on your terms, even if your kids don’t always follow them.

OZ-IT says homeowners can ensure the safety of their family members and authorised guests by labeling them as no-fire. In case an unknown individual is spotted with a recognised visitor, the camera will notify the user through their smartphone and ask for permission to pull the trigger.

The PaintCam website currently lacks extensive details. There is limited information available regarding specifications and pricing.

However, OZ-IT is pushing ahead on Kickstarter where it started crowdfunding for the project on Tuesday. It has not revealed a release date as yet.
